Dinner & A Movie – France

Bonjour!

Did you know today is National Rosé Day? I don’t know who comes up with these days, but I’m always up for any reason to celebrate–especially when it involves wine! With rosé in mind, it only makes sense that we honor the south of France tonight and sip on what I think is summertime’s best wine! Cool, crisp, and pretty in pink.

Let’s set the mood

Why not turn on the soundtrack to A Good Year or better yet, put on Makali,  a six-piece band from southern France that is featured on the soundtrack. It’s sort of French folk music with a pretty cool vibe.

L’Aperitif – The French Happy Hour

Mike and I had a magical visit to Provence two years ago (travel posts here, here, here, here, and here). I have the fondest memories of the french aperitif hour. Sitting outside, sipping on rosé or pastis and enjoying crostini with tapenade, fresh vegetables, and cheese and salami. I’m convinced no one does happy hour better than the french!

So pour yourself a glass of wine, put out a few hors d’oeuvres, and ease your way into the evening!

À votre santé! (which I think means to your health and cheers in French… please correct me if there are any french speakers out there!)

Lights, Camera, Action!

Tonight we’ll be enjoying A Good Year. While it’s not my favorite movie of all time, I liked the book better, I do love the scenery in this movie and adore Marion Cotillard and Albert Finney (Russell Crowe’s not bad to look at either) so I think you’ll find this the perfect pairing with your bottle of rosé!

Amusez-vous et bonne nuit!

Happy Travels!

  1. Another good one for scenery (and with good acting!) is the remake of “The Swimming Pool” with Charlotte Rampling.
And for a completely silly caper flick, try “Ca$h” with Jean Dujarden and Jean Reno, a kind of “Ocean’s 11” set on the French Riviera. It’s one of my favorites–all fun.

    1. Thank you for the recommendation! I’ve never seen that one, so will add it too my list!
