What to Pack for Charleston

Charleston is my second my favorite city in the US (but a very close second to San Francisco). It’s no wonder it’s often voted the best city to visit in the U.S. From the friendly residents, beautiful historic homes, and amazing food – the Southern Charm in Charleston is for real! If you’re wondering what to pack for Charleston – all I can say is be prepared for the heat and humidity if you visit in the summertime.  If you plan to do a lot sightseeing by foot, I would skip the heels and bring comfortable shoes. It’s a pretty casual city – so whether you like to dress up or keep it low key you’ll fit right in.

What to Pack for Charleston

Morning Walk by Rainbow Row

Get up early to get a to-go cup of coffee and head to Rainbow row for a few pictures and a morning walk. This iconic area of Charleston is full of beautiful pastel row houses that only a city like Charleston can pull off!

Tour through the Historic Downtown

Whether you take a leisurely stroll around town, hit up the shopping streets, or take a historic carriage ride, it’s pretty hard not to fall in love with this city. Don’t forget to pack comfortable shoes and bring your camera!

Beach Day on Sullivan’s Island

One of the first things on the docket is a beach day on Sullivan’s Island. The beach seems to stretch on forever and is the perfect place to get a little R&R. Don’t forget to pack a cute suit, a beach hat, sunglasses, and a pair of sandals.

Dinner and Drinks in Town

Whether your dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant like Husk or a local cafe, you’re sure to have an unforgettable meal during your stay in Charleston. A few not to miss foods to try in South Carolina include fresh oysters, fried chicken, po’boys, shrimp and grits, low country boil, hushpuppies, and all the sweet tea your heart desires! A cute dress and stylish sandals are perfect for an al fresco dinner.
