No matter where you live in the US going to the lake during the summer is something we all have in common. Most of us know of a place where the paved roads end, the trees get taller, and the world seems to get a little quieter.

Cabins and lake houses are the perfect way to put the electronics away and enjoy the great outdoors. I love leaving my phone on the charger and living in the moment when we’re at the lake! Whether playing board games, floating on the water, or sitting by the bonfire – it’s the perfect time to really connect with your friends and family! It’s also the perfect place to get a little R&R for yourself. The thing I never forget to pack for the lake is a good book!

Some of our favorite lake activities and recipes include:

Spoons Card Game– Warning – this can get highly competitive!

S’mores

Have you tried putting a chocolate square inside the marshmallow before roasting it in the fire? I learned this trick at summer camp and it’s a fun twist on a traditional s’more. I’m such a chocolate junkie I usually put the square of chocolate in the marshmallow and have a layer of chocolate too! YOLO!

A fun alternative on a rainy day would be S’mores dip in a skillet.

Omelets in a BagWe love doing this for breakfast! We put all of the filling choices in small bowls on the counter and everyone can go around and fill their bag with what they like. It’s so easy and everyone is able to contribute.

Triple Berry PieEven better if you can use berries you picked yourself!

With August just around the corner hopefully you can fit in some time for a weekend away! It worked wonders for me!
